Quick Mortgages receives the Armed Forces Covenant Silver Award
Quick Mortgages has been presented with the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award for 2026. The award is given by the Ministry of Defence in national recognition of an employer’s commitment to the armed forces community. Our Business Development Manager, Henry Wright, collected it on behalf of the team.
What the Silver Award recognises
The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme recognises employers who support defence and the armed forces community. It has three levels. Bronze is for organisations that have signed the Armed Forces Covenant and told their workforce they support the forces community. Silver and Gold are for employers who go on to show that support in practice.
To hold Silver, an employer must
- Build on Bronze
- Hold the Bronze Award first, usually for at least a year, with the policies and evidence to back it up.
- Recruit fairly
- Show that service personnel and the forces community are not unfairly disadvantaged when they apply for jobs.
- Make it known
- Make sure staff know about the organisation’s positive policies towards the forces community.
- Support Reservists
- Support Reservists who are mobilised, and give them at least five days’ extra annual leave for training.
The certificate is signed by the Secretary of State for Defence and the Chief of the Defence Staff. Ours now sits on the windowsill of our office in Birmingham.
Why it matters to us
We have always had close personal links to the forces. Our team includes veterans and military families, and we signed the Armed Forces Covenant because we wanted to show that support, not just talk about it.
“I had the privilege of representing Quick Mortgages to collect our Silver Award,” said Henry. “It is a true honour to play a small part in giving back to those who serve and protect us. It was an incredible day from start to finish, and we are excited to continue our work alongside the Covenant.”
What it means if you serve
Service life brings its own mortgage questions: a BFPO address, a posting in the middle of a purchase, allowances that some lenders count and others ignore, and Forces Help to Buy sitting alongside the mortgage. We have shaped our service around serving personnel, veterans and their families, including:
- On-site visits, so we can talk through mortgages in person where that suits you better.
- A mortgage guide written for the armed forces, covering every stage from basic pay to resettlement. You can download our forces mortgage guide (PDF).
- Advisers who know forces cases, from Forces Help to Buy to buying while posted overseas.
Our advice is fee-free and there is no obligation. Our guide to military mortgages is a good place to start.
